Using Airborne Lidar in Archaeological Survey

It is a pleasure to announce the release of a new book on "Using Airborne Lidar in Archaeological Survey". Archaeolandscapes International endorses the book, which has been published published by our member institution Historic England. It is a revision of "The Light Fantastic", a set of guidelines designed to help those intending to use airborne laser scanning (ALS) for archaeological survey. The guidelines will be most useful to those who have access to data that have already been commissioned, or are planning to commission it for a specific purpose. They also provide an introduction to the interpretation of the data to separate archaeological and non-archaeological features. The revision includes updates to the process since the original publication.

The book is available for free download here. This is a very welcome addition to the existing reference guides for using LIDAR data in archaeology. 0004 ALS book
